Dillon Beach is on the northern Marin County coastline of California, just north of Tomales Bay and south of the town of Bodega Bay.
My friend from High School, Christine (the other Christine, not my wife Christine) had a family vacation home there that we visited, back in the day.
Although that home passed from family ownership, Christine and her family have continued to holiday in Dillon Beach, in vacation rental homes.
For the past few years, a collection of us Davis High School chums have joined Christine at Dillon Beach for a few days each summer.
Dillon Beach has a whopping 319 residents, and is 89 feet above sea level. Although the house we're staying in this year is higher than that, because it's near the top of a ridge.
We each are assigned different meals to prepare. Christine (the new Christine, the one that is married to me, and newer meaning more recently added to the group, but we avoid referring to the other Christine as the old Christine, because that just doesn't seem nice, plus it's more fun to call them both the other Christine, depending upon the circumstances, and, yes, we started doing this before the TV show was created) and I have Friday dinner. We're grilling chicken and sausages, to be served with beans and salad and bread and cheese and brownies for dessert.
Peter the brewer (professional) will probably bring a bunch of beer. We'll bring a bunch of wine. And we'll laze away the weekend.
Saturday is oysters and tapas day, when we'll have a couple of day-trippers join us, and grill fresh oysters from Tomales Bay. And tapas for the less oyster-loving among us.
Dillon Beach is named for its founding (1853) father, George Dillon.
Summer by the sea!
